The EWA Heavyweight title belt was crafted by Dave Millican and was patterned after the 1983-1986 version of US Heavyweight Championship, worn by Greg Valentine, Ricky Steamboat, Wahoo McDaniel, Magnum TA, and Tully Blanchard. It also features the "wrestling babies", part of the famous 1980s logo of Joe Blanchard's Southwest Championship Wrestling promotion.

Buddy Landel defeated George South for the vacant EWA title on 11.20.10 in Lincolnton NC
Pending his retirement from the ring, Jake Roberts met with EWA Commissioner Joe Graham in Charlotte NC and worked out an arrangement where he retired the title effective October, 31, 2010. A preliminary tournament was held in Concord, NC with the two finalist to meet each other on 11.20.10 in Lincolnton.
A bloody George South applies his famous claw hold on Jake "The Snake" Roberts during their title match on 5/8/10 in Lexington. But it was to no avail. Minutes later, Jake hit the DDT and walked away with the EWA championship belt.

It might look like Mr. Florida had the Barbarian almost out with the Bear Hug, as special referee Jimmy Valiant lifted his hand checking for the submission.
